Stuart Rosser, who has resigned as chief executive of Caerphilly County Borough Council

The chief executive of Caerphilly County Borough Council has resigned after 14 years with the local authority.

The council has said Stuart Rosser, who has been chief executive for the last five years, will leave his post at Christmas and retire.

Mr Rosser has been with the council for 14 years and has worked in local Government for 38 years.

Council leader Lindsay Whittle said Mr Rosser’s career had been “exemplary”.

A spokesman for Caerphilly County Borough Council said: “We can confirm that Stuart Rosser, the chief executive of Caerphilly County Borough Council, has offered his resignation.

“His prudent management leaves the council as a robust and fit for purpose organisation

“Councillor Lindsay Whittle, the leader of the council has accepted it. The normal process will be to prepare a report for council to accept this resignation formally and determine how the organisation will deal with the future recruitment of this post.”

Cllr Whittle said: “I wish to state that Stuart Rosser has provided excellent stewardship to this authority both as a director and most recently as chief executive.

“His advice to members has always been greatly appreciated across the political sphere and his resignation, as with every role he has undertaken, has been delivered in a temperate and understated manner.”
