A one-day blitz on crime saw 24 criminals arrested in Caerphilly county yesterday. (Wednesday, June 23)
Suspected burglars, thieves, violent criminals and drug growers were all picked up in the Gwent Police exercise, along with others wanted for non-payment of fines, harassment and criminal damage.
Officers from several sections of the force made the arrests as they carried out search warrants targeting criminal activity.
They also seized £4,500 in cash and a jet-ski, using the proceeds of crime act, and confiscated 36 cannabis plants as well as small amounts of cannabis and amphetamines.
The road traffic policing unit issued 15 fines for driving offences, including using a mobile phone at the wheel.
Superintendent Jon Burley, said: “The local community have been great in providing information and assisting us in targeting offenders who may be operating in the county borough. We had some good results from the day and we will continue to focus our efforts on preventing criminal activity and taking positive action against offenders.”
