Run the Cardiff 10K for Diabetes UK Cymru

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 13:00, Friday July 16th, 2010.

Diabetes UK Cymru is appealing for people to put their running shoes on for the HSBC Cardiff 10K Run to raise money for it.

The charity has 200 places in the Cardiff 10K on Sunday September 12.

Runners still have time to train for the 6.2 mile challenge, which takes competitors through Sophia Gardens and past Cardiff Castle.

Money raised by Cardiff 10K runners for Diabetes UK Cymru will fund research into diabetes and help the charity to support people with the condition.

Dai Williams, National Director of Diabetes UK Cymru, said: “Diabetes UK Cymru is delighted to have 200 places at the Cardiff 10K for the first time this year and would like to thank all of the runners who have signed up to run for us already.

“Running the Cardiff 10K is the perfect way to get fit and raise vital funds for Diabetes UK Cymru, which supports the one in 20 people now diagnosed with the condition in Wales.

“Money raised by our Cardiff 10K runners will fund research into the condition and help us to provide advice, support and information for people living with diabetes and their families.

“Best of all training for the challenge will help our runners to keep active and reduce their risk of developing Type 2 diabetes in the future.”

Registration for the Cardiff 10K costs £21, which includes a running vest, sponsorship forms and a training guide.

The charity also has places in the Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday October 17.

You can sign up to either run by calling Diabetes UK Cymru on 029 2066 8276 or by emailing wales@diabetes.org.uk

Full details of both runs are also available on the charity’s website www.diabetes.org.uk/wales
