Gwent Police and South Wales Police have launched their festive safety campaign called “Don’t have a nightmare this Christmas”.

Safety information will also be published through the Gwent Police and South Wales Police Twitter and Facebook pages.

Assistant Chief Constable Kirby of South Wales Police said: “Collaborating with Gwent Police for this Christmas initiative has proven to be a positive step for the force in ensuring the safety of our communities at this busy time of year.

“By working together in order to educate the public with regards to crime prevention measures, we want to make certain that the festive season remains safe and enjoyable for everyone.”

Assistant Chief Constable Simon Prince from Gwent Police said: “We want to people to enjoy themselves during the festive season and to stay safe and secure in the process. Over the Christmas and New Year period our campaign will focus on personal safety, prevention of alcohol related violence, theft of personal belongings and burglary. We try to find innovative and appropriate ways to ensure that local people are aware of our crime prevention messages and help them stay safe.

“We are hopeful that by using a theme of posters, social networking and four short films we will capture the public’s attention and help to remind them of some of the things that they can do to help them, and their belongings, stay safe and secure.”
