A ten-year-old girl from Caerphilly will appear in a new production of smash-hit musical Oliver! At Cardiff’s Wales Millennium Centre.

Maya Williams will join other young stars from the surrounding area as part of the Cameron Mackintosh production from December 10 2011 to January 21 2012.

Other youngsters to star include Cameron Davies and Jack Sullivan both 11 from Pontypridd, Dafydd Thomas 13 from Pentrebach, Dylan Jones 13 from Thomastown, Evan Rhys Coxley 13 from Abercynon, Luke James 9 from Llantrisant, Callum Howells 12 from Porth, Jade Croot 12 from Merthyr Tydfil.

Oliver! stars Neil Morrissey, of Men Behaving Badly and Waterloo Road fame as Fagin and Samantha Barks as Nancy. Samantha was a finalist in the BBC talent show I’d Do Anything and made her West End debut as Eponine in Les Misérables last year. They are joined by former The Bill actor Iain Fletcher as Bill Sikes whose TV appearances include Casualty, Doctors, and Band of Brothers.

Cameron Mackintosh said: “It is 46 years since I appeared in the first national tour of Oliver! and this show has been close to my heart ever since. Little did I know then that I would one day be this brilliant musical’s producer and co-owner. Every time I produce the show Lionel Bart’s marvellous musical becomes a smash hit all over again, so I’m thrilled to bring you yet another spectacular new version starring Neil Morrissey.”
