Caerphilly Mayors celebrate birth of Tommy Cooper

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 11:00, Monday April 11th, 2011.

Caerphilly’s two Mayoral leaders joined in the fun at a celebration marking the 90th anniversary of comedy giant Tommy Cooper’s birth.

Councillor Stephen Kent (left), Mayor of Caerphilly Town and Councillor James Fussell (right), who is Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough, donned Fez’s for the celebration lunch with the Tommy Cooper Society at Ystrad Mynach College.

Cllr Fussell said: “We wanted to join in the fun and what better way to do so than wear a Fez which Tommy will always be associated with.

“It’s great to see celebrations continuing to remember a comedy genius.”
