A Caerphilly-based business, trading in one of the toughest sectors during a recession, will be doubling in size by Christmas.

Specialist Precast Products’ new owners Martyn Fear and Martin Beechey have taken over the factory based in Bedwas and re-established the business with help and assistance from Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Business Advisory team in Economic Development.

The company has already expanded from two to four employees and will reach six by the end of the year.

Councillor Ron Davies, cabinet member for regeneration and countryside, said: “This is excellent news for the county borough to see that a business based in the construction industry is expanding and taking on staff.

“This industry sector has always been an indicator for the state of the economy and I would encourage more businesses to get in touch with our Economic Development team to find out how they can help.”

The Economic Development team have advised Specialist Precast Products on ICT requirements by conducting a free on-site ICT consultation and putting the company in touch with a local website designer.

Martyn Fear, co-owner of Specialist Precast Products said,: “In addition to the ICT assistance we received for our business, we have also received assistance which has helped us to progress necessary capital purchases in the form of two fork lift trucks sooner than we would otherwise have been able to. This assistance has undoubtedly enabled us to accelerate our growth plans.”
