Finalists for Caerphilly Business Forum Awards 2010 announced

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 11:00, Friday October 29th, 2010.

The finalists of the 2010 Caerphilly Business Forum Awards have been announced.

The six category winners and one overall winner will be crowned at the ninth annual awards presentation evening sponsored by Coleg Gwent at the Bryn Meadows Golf, Hotel and Spa in Maesycymmer on Friday November 12.

Caerphilly Business Forum chair Andrew Diplock said: “There’s no avoiding the fact that the business climate is tough and we all face enormous challenges but that has brought out the best in many businesses in Caerphilly.

“This year’s entries show great creativity and innovation as well as plenty of hard work and a real determination to succeed. The judges have been greatly impressed and we’re all encouraged as these are the characteristics we need to get through these hard times.

“We’ve seen these qualities at first hand in Caerphilly Business Forum this year, with more and more talented people coming together to bounce ideas off each other and find creative solutions to some of the problems we face – which is one of the main purposes of the forum.

“And now, as we approach the end of the year, I’m delighted that we have the opportunity to showcase some of that talent at our annual awards. The standards are once again very high across the board and everyone shortlisted deserves recognition for their achievements but the winners in particular will find these awards are a real boost to their businesses.”

Previous Caerphilly Business Forum Award winners who have gone on to success with the support of the forum, include Trecenydd-based valve company Hobbs Valve, bespoke children’s playground business Craft Wales and Mr Diplock’s own business, the Ystrad Mynach-based utility monitoring and management consultancy UES who last year won the award for Business of the Year with fewer than 25 employees.

This year’s award evening is sponsored by Coleg Gwent and there are six categories of awards with individual sponsors plus the Premier Award for the overall winner sponsored by Broomfield Alexander.

Tickets for the award ceremony and dinner, which will be hosted by journalist and broadcaster Jason Mohammad, are available for £50 including VAT.
