Woman, 51, found unconscious in Blackwood still in critical condition

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 11:10, Tuesday February 14th, 2012.

Police have said a 51-year-old woman found unconscious in Blackwood during the early hours of Monday is still in a critical condition.

The woman, from the Blackwood area, was found by a member of the public behind a row of shops on Blackwood High Street at 4.30am.

A spokeswoman for Gwent Police said the woman was not a victim of crime and had been reported missing on Sunday night.

She said the woman was still at Newport’s Royal Gwent Hospital in a critical condition after being admitted on Monday.

After the woman was found, a police cordon was placed around the area where the woman was found.

Two lanes leading from High Street between New Look and Y Coed Duon pub, and the Card Factory and Phones4U – were blocked off.

Land behind the shops, between the Card Factory and New Look, was also sealed off as officers investigated.
