The first group was from the Workers’ Educational Association (WEA). The WEA is a voluntary adult education body which provides learning opportunities and focuses on a wide range of educational activities.
More than 20 adult students had a tour of the Palace of Westminster and met with Labour’s Dai Harvard, MP for Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney and Wayne David, MP for Caerphilly.
Mr David was a tutor organiser for the WEA in South Wales during the 1980s.
The second visit was by a group of school pupils from St Cenydd Comprehensive School, Trecenydd.
After the visits Mr David said: “It was great to have two groups of visitors from the constituency.
“Both the adult students and the pupils from St Cenydd Comprehensive School found the visits both enjoyable and informative. I had the opportunity to meet the two groups and I had a good discussion with each of them.
“If other groups would like to visit the Houses of Parliament, free tours are held throughout the year and can be arranged through your local Member of Parliament.”
