A footbridge named in honour of the Calzaghe family will be officially opened on Wednesday.
The striking £3.2 million bridge is in Newbridge town centre where the legendary boxing family are from.
It is the first structure in Caerphilly to be named after a living person.
Joe Calzaghe, the undefeated former world boxing champion and his award-winning trainer father Enzo will attend the opening of the bridge alongside with the Deputy First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones and other special guests.
The bridge, in Bridge Street, near Newbridge leisure centre, forms part of the Newbridge Safe Routes in Communities scheme, a £1.4 million project funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and Caerphilly County Borough Council.
The community is expected to turn out in force to mark the occasion when Joe and Enzo officially open the bridge at 12noon.
Councillor Allan Pritchard, deputy leader of Caerphilly County Borough Council, said: “The decision to name this landmark structure ‘Pont Calzaghe Bridge’ is a fitting tribute to the sporting achievements of both Joe and Enzo over the last few years.
“This famous boxing family has helped put Newbridge firmly on the map and they are ambassadors for the whole county borough on a worldwide stage.”
