Trinity Fields School in Ystrad Mynach held a special assembly recently to present Velindre Cancer Care Centre with a cheque for £900.

Lynn Lerwill, a Tertiary Teacher at the school was spurred into action after the sad loss of colleague, Ian Williams.

Lynn raised funds by walking from Brecon to Bryn Bach Park, Tredegar- totalling 21 miles in just two days. To show support, a group of staff from the school joined Lynn for the final part of the gruelling walk.

Tracey McGuirk, Acting Head of School said, “We were saddened by the loss of our colleague, but inspired by the care he received and wanted to show our appreciation. Well done Lynn, all the staff at Trinity Fields are so proud of you for your brilliant effort.”

A special assembly was held in memory of long serving teacher Ian Williams and the cheque for £900 presented to Kylie McKee, Deputy Head of Fundraising at Velindre.
