Trinant woman, 70, dies after tram accident

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 20:23, Tuesday September 15th, 2009.

A 70-year-old woman from Trinant has died after being hit by a tram while on holiday in Blackpool.

Maureen Foxwell was celebrating her birthday when the accident happened on the promenade on August 5.

Trams were stopped for more than an hour while the accident was investigated.

Mrs Foxwell died on Saturday at Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny after being moved there at the beginning of September from Lancashire.

She was on holiday with 69-year-old husband Barry Foxwell who had taken his wife to the seaside resort because they had spent their honeymoon there.

They had marked their 48th wedding anniversary last week.

Lancashire Police are still investigating the collision.
