Music sessions launched for the elderly in Caerphilly

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 16:00, Monday September 24th, 2012.

A charity that uses music to brighten the lives of the elderly and isolated is launching a new session in Caerphilly on Monday October 8 from 10.30am.

Goldies Cymru is part of the Golden-Oldies Charity, which started in Bath five years ago.

In January new sessions were launched in South Wales in partnership with Age Concern Cardiff and The Vale, and on Monday October 8, its third session will launch at the Vanguard Centre, Van Road.

Fifty people attended the previous taster sessions in Ely and Llanrumney.

Matthew Coffin, team leader for Age Concern said: “Seeing over 100 of our healthy, wealthy and wise members on their feet singing and dancing was the highlight of this year’s programme.

“This was the start of a fruitful partnership between Goldies Cymru and Age Concern Cardiff and The Vale.”

Goldies sessions are based on the hit music of the 50s, 60s and 70s, and everyone is welcome to attend. They will be taken by Caerphilly-based singer Beth Ford.
