Cwmcarn Lake has helped Cwmcarn Forest gain a Green Flag Award

Five Green Flag parks in Caerphilly County Borough are in the running for a national award.

Waunfawr Park in Crosskeys, Wern Park in Nelson, Morgan Jones Park in Caerphilly town, Parc Cwm Darran and Cwmcarn Forest Drive have all been put forward for the Green Flag scheme’s people’s choice award.

Residents are being urged to vote for the parks which are up against a record-breaking 1,419 others from across the UK.

Cllr David Poole, cabinet member for community and leisure services, said: “It is an honour to have five recognised Green Flag parks in our borough – two of which have been recently accredited.

“Parc Cwm Darran and Cwmcarn Forest Drive joined the elite set of parks earlier this year, adding to our reputation for providing some of the greatest green spaces in the country. I would urge residents to support these parks in the People’s Choice Awards, to help them gain the national recognition they deserve.”

Members of the public can vote for their favourite park at www.greenflagaward.org.uk

Voting for the winner closes at midnight on Sunday October 14.

Caerphilly has some fantastic Parks and open spaces, I have just voted for Morgan Jones Park though the others are just as good.
