A National Assembly for Wales committee is to look at how well public transport is joined up across the country.
The Enterprise and Business Committee is asking for people’s experiences of how well public transport services are linked with each other.
The committee has launched an online questionnaire to help inform its inquiry which will focus on connecting bus, rail and community transport services across Wales and, in particular, on which factors currently limit their integration.
Among the questions the committee is asking are:
- How easy is it to change between services or from one form of public transport to another?
- How easy is it to plan and pay for public transport journeys, such as accessing routes, timetables and connections?
- How public transport needs to be improved?
The survey results will be used to create a picture of how people use the public transport network across Wales and the benefits and difficulties they experience.
The findings will help to form the committee’s conclusions and recommendations to the Welsh Government at the end of the inquiry.
“It is important in this inquiry that we hear the views of people who regularly use or are affected by public transport services,” said Nick Ramsay AM, Chair of the Enterprise and Business Committee.
“I would ask anyone who uses Wales’s public transport network on a regular basis from anywhere in the country to complete this questionnaire and help us to form an accurate picture of how integrated it is and how it can be improved.
“This is an opportunity for people to shape our conclusions and to contribute towards improving a network which is of critical importance to our economy and our communities.”
