New Tredegar, Brithdir and Tirphil recently got a clean-up from Caerphilly Council workers and school pupils.
The council’s Tidy Towns Tidy Places and Fast Forward teams took part in the clean up concentrating on back lanes and steep embankments in the area.
Offenders from the Wales Probation Trust carrying out their community service also took part.
Pupils from nearby White Rose Primary School also did their bit to help out in the clean up initiative by planting flower seeds and clearing litter from around their school grounds.
Cllr Lyn Ackerman, cabinet member for public services said: “This is another shining example of what can be achieved when we all work together. The enthusiasm of the pupils from White Rose Primary School was infectious, and I hope their efforts will enthuse their families and the rest of their school friends to be equally as enthusiastic, and help us in our efforts to engender more pride and ownership in our communities.”
Richard Zecca, headteacher at White Rose Primary School, said: “It was great to see the genuine commitment of the children and indeed the workforce to help further improve our local environment.”
Caerphilly StreetPride is a council initiative that brings together the services that keep Caerphilly County Borough clean, green and safe. Its aim is to work with residents to keep street and neighbourhoods at a standard that promotes pride and community responsibility.
