Residents urged to have their say on Caerphilly Council priorities

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 14:11, Monday April 29th, 2013.

Caerphilly County Borough Council is encouraging residents to have their say on the council’s proposed priority areas for improvement over the forthcoming year.

Each year, the council has a legal duty to choose its Improvement Objectives – and is currently in the process of setting the Improvement Objectives for 2013/14.

The council would like to encourage residents to consider the following identified areas and have their say on them by completing a short survey. These views will be used to set the new Improvement Objectives – the results of this consultation will be published in July.

The proposed Improvement Objectives for 2013/14 are:

  • The council is committed to ensuring children and young people who are looked after by Caerphilly County Borough Council are supported to achieve their full potential in a joined up way
  • The council will improve job opportunities across the county borough by implementing the PASSPORT scheme to create employment and training opportunities for young people
  • The council will develop an effective and accessible Youth Service that supports the personal and social development of young people
  • The council will improve awareness, access, variety and use of leisure, community and sporting facilities in the county borough
  • The council will transform council homes, lives and communities through its investment in the Welsh Housing Quality Standard
  • The council will improve the quality and management of private sector housing for vulnerable people, and work to reduce the number of residents who may become homeless

The consultation ends on Friday  May 24 and the survey can be found on Caerphilly County Borough Council’s website www.caerphilly.gov.uk . Paper copies of the survey are also available at each library across Caerphilly County Borough.

Residents who would like further information the consultation or require the survey in a different format should contact:
