Politicians, the police and youngsters joined forces recently to have a go at some graffiti art.

Everything was above board though as they were all taking part in an intergenerational graffiti day organised by Senghenydd Youth Drop In Centre (SYDIC).

Despite the awful weather the event, held earlier this month, was well attended by members of the community.

PCSO Ian Williams, Cllr John Roberts, Caerphilly MP Wayne David and members of the Aber Valley Heritage Group all chipped in to help graffiti artist Lloyd Roberts on a piece situated in the car park of Senghenydd Community Centre.

The young people wanted to commemorate the centenary of the Senghenydd mining disaster which took place in 1913, but were also keen to celebrate the present day community by acknowledging local schools, rugby club and water park.

The event was paid for by Communities First and was coordinated by SYDIC youth workers.
