National Autistic Society Cymru launches Caerphilly branch

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 12:14, Thursday July 4th, 2013.

The National Autistic Society Cymru (NAS Cymru) has established a new support group in Caerphilly.

The new branch, the charity’s 12th, has evolved out of the Caerphilly Autism Family Support Group.

Nicola Coleman, who is the chair of the new branch, said the charity shared the same aims of the existing support group.

She said: “We will hold meetings and events and we will continue to campaign for individuals and families affected by autism. We are all really excited and looking forward to getting started. Please come keep and eye out and come along to our meetings and event, the more people that come, the stronger as a group we are.

Helena Bateman from NAS Cymru said: “Nicola and the group in Caerphilly were already doing so much great work in the area so we felt honoured that they wanted to become one of our branches.

“All our branches are run by parents, carers and people with autism in order to provide information and support to families and many of our branches also get involved with National fundraising and campaigning activities.

“The new Caerphilly branch are already at the centre of their community and have so much drive and passion that everybody in NAS Cymru is really looking forward to working with them.”
