Welsh Water says drain blockages down by 40%

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 13:00, Friday July 12th, 2013.

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, has thanked customers in Caerphilly County Borough for playing their part in helping reduce sewer blockages by more than 40%.

In April, the Nelson-based company launched a year-long Let’s Stop the Block awareness campaign which aimed to show customers how they can do their bit to stop sewer blockages.

Welsh Water’s Director of Waste Water Services, Steve Wilson said: “Our campaign has seen some fantastic results in its first two months.

“It’s been a huge team effort from all involved and we’d especially like to thank the people of RCT and Caerphilly for helping us to achieve this.

“Reducing these sewer blockages has led to fewer pollution incidents, less flooding to homes and less human misery.”
