Bargoed and Aber Valley YMCAs to celebrate 75th anniversaries

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 14:00, Tuesday July 30th, 2013.

Bargoed YMCA and Aber Valley YMCA are both celebrating their 75th anniversaries this year.

Bargoed has secured a Heritage Lottery Fund award to publish a book and host an exhibition on its history, while Aber Valley YMCA will be holding a celebratory dinner dance on September 7 this year.

The friends of Bargoed YMCA are holding an open evening between 4pm and 7pm on August 1 for people to share their memories of their time at the YMCA.

It is hoped their book will be published in October.

For more information on Aner Valley’s dinner please call 02920 830326.

Hi. Do you have any information on the YMCA that used to be in pontygwyndy rd Caerphilly. I went there as a boy during the late forties and early fifties. As there is no mention of it anywhere. Thank you.
