A man has appeared in court in connection with the death of a six-week-old baby in Nelson.
Michael Pearce, 32, of Station Terrace, Nelson, appeared before Newport Crown Court on August 29 charged with assault.
An application for bail was refused and Pearce was remanded in custody. He is due to reappear before the court on September 20.
On Friday August 16, police officers were called to an address in Nelson with reports that a baby was not breathing.
Six-week-old baby Alfie Sullock, from Fairwater, in Cardiff, died at the University Hospital of Wales on August 20.
