Former Children’s Laureate Michael Rosen entertained 300 junior school pupils at a special event at Caerphilly Castle.

The poet took over the castle’s Great Hall last Thursday for National Poetry Day.

The animated author entertained 300 Year 6 pupils from six local primary schools when he regaled them with side-splitting anecdotes that were the source of his poems.

Michael also recited a number of poems and encouraged his audience to join in with.

Throughout the day, Michael, whose books include ‘Mind your own Business’ and ‘Wouldn’t you like to Know’, summed up each show by answering questions from his young audience before concluding with a very popular book signing.
