Caerphilly Council event aimed at tackling vulnerable adult abuse

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 15:00, Tuesday June 7th, 2011.

Caerphilly County Borough Council is holding a ‘drop-in’ advice session about preventing the abuse of elderly people.

Coinciding with World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on Wednesday June 15, the session is being held between 10am and 2pm at Caerphilly town’s Visitor Centre, The Twyn.

A range of agencies will be attending including Social Services, Gwent Police, Disability CANDO Advocacy, Age Concern Advocacy, the Stroke Association, Adult Services Duty Information Team and the Safer Caerphilly Multi-Agency Centre.

Representatives from each agency will be on-hand to give advice.

World Elder Abuse Day is co-ordinated in the UK by the charity Action on Elder Abuse.

This will be the fourth annual event that the CCBC Protection of Vulnerable Adults team has held to raise awareness on how to report abuse and seek support for vulnerable members of the community.

  • If you suspect that a vulnerable adult is being subjected to any form of abuse please contact the council’s Adult Services Duty Information Team on 0808 100 2500.
