St David’s Day concerts will take place across Caerphilly County Borough on March 1 to celebrate Welsh history.

Caerphilly County Borough Council is planning celebrations in Bargoed, Blackwood, Risca and Caerphilly, following successful concerts in 2013.

The celebrations will focus on Welsh heritage with local bands, choirs, dance and community groups all taking part. If concert-goers leave their singing voice at home, they can still enjoy stilt-walkers, face painting and theatre.

Visitors to Caerphilly town can also enjoy free entry into Caerphilly Castle for the day as part of a Cadw scheme to encourage people to reconnect with their heritage.

The events start at 11am in Hanbury Square, Bargoed, The Dragon Circle in Blackwood, The Twyn Community Centre in Caerphilly and Tredegar Park, Risca. For more information call 02920 880011.
