Caerphilly Observer has been highly commended by judges in the 2014 Newspaper Awards.

Our newspaper was nominated in the Printed Innovation of the Year category after the launch of our print edition in May last year.

Judges were “very impressed with the reverse printing from web to print.”

They added: “Quality journalism driven by a real passion to represent its area and hold power to scrutiny.”

Richard Gurner, editor and publisher of Caerphilly Observer, said: “We’d like to thank our readers and advertising partners who have helped to make Caerphilly Observer a must-read publication.

“Without their support and loyalty we would not be where we are today.”

Caerphilly Observer was beaten in its category by national newspaper the Daily Telegraph, which won for a new type of print advert.

Jesus Christ! You were commended despite your failure to grasp the British dd/mm/yyyy system and your left wing biased (which you deny but look ah the number of articles criticising the 'Bedroom Tax' and then look at the number of article supporting it OR the number of supporters quoted to balance out critical arguments).

    What's the world coming to?

Dean, newspapers have never been unbiased; even those which do not publish an editorial. At least on this paper we can all present our view on any issue. Well, mostly, I have had one or two of my comments 'pulled!'
