There are three Caerphilly Safety Partnership CCTV Cameras in direct sight of this theft, presumably they have been checked for recordings, and additionally, the person manning the cameras at the time of the theft has also been interview.
If a simple theft, by a car driver, who had to stop, park, leave the vehicle, steal the flowers, and return to his or her car, is not picked up on these street cameras it is difficult to understand what their purpose really is.
These cameras cost the ratepayers of the borough a huge amount of money from the overstretched rates to install, maintain, and operate, not to mention the cost of employing people to view street activity through these spies in the sky, but, did technology fail on this occasion? or was it human error?.
I walked into the flower shop just after it happened. It was a completely audacious and selfish act.
If the cameras didn’t pick this up then they aren’t much use. The girls in the shop were also quite stressed by this as they are employees and responsible for the welfare of the shop. Luckily they have good employers, but the their didn’t know this or it seems care.
