A primary school cook is bidding to be named the UK School Chef of the Year.
Earlier this year, Kate Davies, who works at St Gwladys Primary School in Bargoed, won the regional heat of Lead Association for Catering in Education (LACA) School Chef of the Year and will be representing Wales in the finals at Worthy Down Barracks, in Hampshire, on May 21.
Kate, who has worked for Caerphilly County Borough Council’s catering department for the past eight years, said: “I was so shocked when I found out I had won the Welsh regional finals, I’m very proud to have come this far and I’m really looking forward to the next stage of the contest.”
