New Tredegar’s White Rose Centre gets defibrillator

News | | Published: 10:27, Wednesday August 13th, 2014.

A life-saving heart defibrillator has been installed at the White Rose Information and Resource Centre in New Tredegar, thanks to the fundraising efforts of staff.

A number of fundraising events were held to raise money for the machine, which can help victims of cardiac arrest.

Cllr Gerald Jones, who sits on the centre’s board of directors, said: “We decided to raise money to part-fund a defibrillator from the British Heart Foundation after finding out that our local community is at higher risk of developing heart disease than the national average. Having a life-saving piece of equipment, that would be widely available to the public made sense.”
