A Trethomas man has been given an ASBO that bans him from singing sexually explicit songs in public.
Mark Thomas, 49, of Hazel Grove was given the order at Caerphilly Magistrate’s Court on October 24 after a catalogue of anti-social behaviour in his community.
The court heard Jones displayed frequent anti-social, noise nuisance and intimidating behaviour, and despite interventions his behaviour continued.
The ASBO, that covers his behaviour across Caerphilly County Borough, also prevents him from approaching his next door neighbours or their visitors, playing loud music that can be heard outside his house, acting in an anti-social manner and interfering with vehicles that don’t belong to him.
Cllr David Poole, Cabinet Member for Community and Leisure Services said: “This individual’s behaviour has severely impacted upon the quality of life of other residents over a period of time, and I hope the gaining of this order will send a clear message to anyone else who feels it is acceptable to act anti-socially that their behaviour will not be tolerated.”
Crime and Disorder Reduction Officer, PC Stuart Lewis, said: “This individual’s anti-social behaviour had a detrimental effect on his neighbours lives. I am sure that this ASBO will now offer them some respite.
“This ASBO sends out a clear message that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated in the Caerphilly Borough. I would urge anyone who has been a victim of anti-social behaviour to report the incidents immediately on 101 – we will support you and deal with perpetrators robustly.”
Until I read the catalogue of offences this man had committed I went by the headlines and thought “look out rugby tours” where a few bawdy songs, sung with gusto in public, are obligatory!
