Caerphilly Council to hold consultation events for planned Rhymney Primary School

News | | Published: 12:17, Monday December 8th, 2014.

Parents are being encouraged to have their say on plans for a new primary school in Rhymney.

The plans would mean the closure of Abertysswg and Pontlottyn primary schools, although original proposals to close Fochriw Primary School have been scrapped.

Consultations take place on December 11 at Abertysswg Primary School and December 15 at Pontlottyn Primary School.

At Abertysswg there will be a drop-in session for pupils and staff from 12pm to 2pm, for parents and carers from 2pm to 5.30pm, followed by a meeting of the governors.

At Pontlottyn, pupils and staff can drop-in between 1pm and 2pm and parents and carers from 2pm until 5.30pm, when the governors will meet.

Comments can also be made online and by writing to: Julian Williams, Senior Officer (Admissions, Exclusions and Planning of School Places), Caerphilly County Borough Council, Penallta House, Tredomen Park, Ystrad Mynach, CF82 7PG.

Representations can also be made by emailing willijn@caerphilly.gov.uk.

Do ease number I would suggest the school is for ages 3-18. School places across the board are being pushed but for secondary education the current policy is “cram ’em in”
