Young musicians from across Caerphilly County Borough performed on the world-renowned stage at St David’s Hall in Cardiff on December 3.

The Caerphilly Music Service students played a variety of pieces to the audience, from Christmas classics to songs from frozen and the Beatles’ Twist and Shout was performed by a ukulele ensemble.

The ukulele players were joined by a brass ensemble, wind band, big band and harpists.

A primary school choir of 280 children sang carols and the Junior Orchestra performed the Sorcerer’s Apprentice.

Performances also came from the Senior Strings and Senior Orchestra, who played music from the Disney film Frozen, while the choir sang Let it Go.

Ken Hunt, the head of Caerphilly Music Service, said: “I am proud of the dedication of my staff for all the hard work they have done in order to present a concert of such high standard.

“It gives all our students a wonderful opportunity to join together and to show how important music is to a well-rounded education.”
