Staff and pupils at Deri Primary School are celebrating after being named Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Pride in Your Place champions of 2014.
The school was named as champions at an awards ceremony at Blackwood Miners’ Institute, due to the children and staff’s efforts to recycle a wide range of materials to help keep waste to a minimum.
Headteacher Nicola Williams said: “The whole school realises the importance of caring for our surroundings, and these are values that we encourage our children to take away from school and implement in their own homes.”
