A 57-year-old man was arrested by armed police this morning, January 9, in Pontymister.
Gwent Police were called to an address in Ty Isaf Park Avenue at approximately 6.10am to reports of a man acting in a threatening manner.
A 57-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon.
He remains in police custody assisting officers with their enquiries.
A Gwent Police spokesperson said: “Armed officers were involved and attended and no one was injured.
“The individual was reported as being in possession of an offensive weapon.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish what the weapon was, and to recover the item.”
