A man has appeared in court charged with robbery after £400 was stolen from a convenience store.
Calum Chad Lewis, aged 22, of no fixed abode, appeared before Newport Magistrates’ Court on January 14 charged with robbery, possession of a bladed article and possession of mephedrone.
Lewis was remanded in custody and will appear before Newport Crown Court on January 29.
The robbery happened at Graig Stores, Hengoed Road, Hengoed on Sunday January 11. Gwent Police said a 37-year-old local man arrested in connection with the robbery was released without charge.
