Antisocial behaviour crackdown a success in Nelson and Hengoed say Gwent Police

News | | Published: 12:00, Friday January 30th, 2015.

A recent crackdown on antisocial behaviour has been hailed a success by police in Nelson and Hengoed.

Gwent Police increased patrols of uniformed and plain-clothes officers in the area and also implemented a 48 hour dispersal on January 7.

The order gives officers the power to move on groups of two or more people. If anyone returns to the area after being moved on, they could be arrested.

A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: “Officers have seen a marked improvement since the operation has started, hopefully the message is getting out there that we will not tolerate these sorts of incidents in the area.

“The daily patrols have continued and Officers have issued two antisocial behaviour referrals – no arrests have been made. The 48 hour Dispersal Orders will be issued again if we feel they are needed.”
