Caerphilly Council’s planning blueprint consultation

Residents in the Caerphilly County Borough have the chance to review a major planning document that acts as a blueprint for future development across the area.

Caerphilly’s Local Development Plan (LDP) was first adopted in 2010 and provides the legal framework for the development and use of land within the county borough. It also provides the context for determining local planning applications.

The council is now in the process of updating the LDP to cover the period up to 2031.

This involves several stages of preparation, consultation and engagement with the public and other interested parties.

Cllr Ken James, Cabinet member for Regeneration and Planning, said: “The purpose of this consultation is to seek views on the level and location of growth up to 2031.

“The consultation will detail the sites submitted to the council for consideration for development, so it is important that local people get the chance to have their say on these proposals.”

Consultation exhibitions will be taking place at Caerphilly Library until February 21; Ystrad Mynach (Non-Pol Social Club) between February 23 and 28; Risca Library between March 2 and March 7; Bargoed Library between March 9 and March 14; Blackwood Library between March 16 to March 21; and Rhymney Community Hall between March 18 and March 21.

Officers from the council’s planning department will be on hand at limited times and days at the various exhibition venues to answer any questions from the public.
