Caerphilly Trading Standards warn of Dyson phone scam

News | | Published: 12:00, Thursday February 19th, 2015.

Dyson owners are being warned of a scam where customers are being telephoned and offered repairs of their vacuums.

Victims are being told Dyson is offering repairs for between £20 and £25, but the company has said they do not canvas by telephone.

They said should a Dyson machine require service, it should be returned to the manufacturer or the manufacturer will provide details of nearby authorised repairers.

Caerphilly’s Trading Standards team are advising residents to report any instances where they are contacted by a company purporting to be calling on behalf of Dyson and to not engage with the company.

Don’t be fooled by a phone number and caller ID that makes it look like the caller is from Dyson. Reports on such calls are lodged at Callercenter.com so be wary when you get a suspicious call. Don’t engage in the call and simply hang up.
