An unidentified snake was found in Caerphilly yesterday, February 19, and the RSPCA are appealing for its owner to come forward.
The red-orange reptile was found slithering up a footpath near Van Road and Gwent Police officers caught it and called the RSPCA.
Yesterday an RSPCA spokeswoman said: “The RSPCA can confirm it has been called about a stray snake found on a footpath on Van Road, Caerphilly.
“An RSPCA officer is currently on her way to collect the snake from Gwent Police – who took the snake to Caerphilly Police Station – and will be taking it to a veterinary surgery for a check-up. At this moment of time we have not identified what type of snake it is.
“We are appealing for the owner of this snake to come forward. Please call 0300 1234 999 if you have any information about this snake.”
Looks like he’s slithered off on gardening leave after negotiating a hefty pay rise and final salary pension.
This is the second snake I have heard of on the loose in this area, a resident of Castle Park found and captured one last month. It appears that someone living nearby is deliberately or inadvertently letting their pets get free.
There is an exotic pets shop where the old farm shop was on the roundabout leading down past GE Aviation Wales. While it is not confirmed and this sighting could be a coincidence, I feel uncomfortable about that shop being there.
This snake could easily be poisonous.
I was in the lane behind Van road that afternoon pulling rubbish out of the woods. I think I would of had a heart attack if I had come across that little blighter.
