Newbridge Memo celebrated 90 years and the completion of its restoration by holding a sold out gala concert featuring Manic Street Preachers’ James Dean Bradfield.

Roy Noble hosted the evening after prominently supporting the multi-million pound restoration of the auditorium.

The impressive facility played host to talented group of artists who were among the first to grace the newly restored stage.

James Dean Bradfield  played with Wynne Evans, and other performers included Mark Porter and his swing band, Richard Beavis, Samantha Lavender, Robert Knight and Mandy Starr.

Chair of the Memo, Howard Stone, said:“I am thrilled that the concert was a sell out. It is fantastic to know that place is now restored to its former glory and the seats were filled and everyone enjoyed the concert.

“It was these types of evenings that the trustees could only dream of during the restoration works and now it’s become a reality, we couldn’t feel more proud.”

Councillor Ken James, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Planning and Sustainable Development, said: “Although it has only been fully re-opened a short time, the Memo has truly positioned itself as a flagship building within the community and beyond.

“The entire building is a hive of activity at any given day of the week. It is fantastic to see it once again fully operational, long may it continue.”
