Pupils from Penllwyn Primary School, near Pontllanfraith, were awarded certificates by Cllr David Carter, Mayor of Caerphilly for their efforts in creating artwork to slow drivers down.

The school children took part in a project to design the posters with the local authority’s Road Safety Project Officer.

Their artwork will now be placed on road signs near the school urging motorists to slow to 20mph – the new limit near the school which was requested by the children.

Cllr Tom Williams Cabinet Member for Highways, Transportation and Engineering said: “I hope that their artwork will remind drivers of the correct speed limit when driving around schools”.
