Libraries discover a Valley at War with author Kay David

News | | Published: 14:00, Thursday March 12th, 2015.

Libraries across Caerphilly County Borough have welcomed local author and historian Kay David to talk about her latest book ‘A Valley at War’.

Former Head of History at Lewis School Pengam, Kay David, has spoken to hundreds of library visitors over the past few months.

A Valley at War talks of the links between the Rhymney Valley and First World War, outlining the impact on local families as young men went to war and the lasting effects on local communities for years to come.

Cllr Rhianon Passmore, Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, said: “It’s brilliant that Kay David has been kind enough to share her knowledge of the First World War and its impact on local communities with visitors to our libraries. These talks have played a central role in our commemorating the 100 year anniversary of the First World War and have acted as an important reminder of how events of the past have shaped our lives today.”
