More than 650 young readers flew, levitated and took the night bus to their local library to celebrate Harry Potter Book Night.
Caerphilly, Bargoed, Blackwood and Risca libraries embraced the magical spirit as youngsters were transported from the cupboard under the stairs to Hogwarts, via the famous platform 9 ¾.
They stepped through the library doors, greeted by staff dressed as some of the much-loved characters from the books.
The event gave fans the chance to share the magic of Harry Potter and encouraged new readers to get lost in the world of books.
Libraries were empty, irrelevant, unused, a thing of the past and up for funding cuts and closure. Whoever decided to invest the cash and turn them around needs to be congratulated. I understand that smaller satellite libraries may of been lost but the dual use central library in Caerphilly is a roaring success. Used it several times myself and my partner takes my daughter there regularly. Yeah I know it probably cost us a couple of quid but what we ended up with is sterling quality.
