SOLD: The Maes Manor in Blackwood has been bought by Warner Hotels

Maes Manor Country House Hotel in Blackwood has been sold above its asking price within a couple of weeks of coming on the market.

The hotel and popular wedding venue has been acquired for an undisclosed sum in excess of its £750,000 guide price by Warner Hotels Limited.

Perched on Maesrudded Hill with spectacular views across its nine acre picturesque gardens and the valley, Maes Manor encompasses 28 en-suite guest bedrooms, a 220-cover function suite, restaurant and bar.

The sale was handled by John Coggins of Christie and Co’s Cardiff office. He said: “Maes Manor was brought to the market at the beginning of February and after a short period of open marketing which attracted significant interest and competitive bidding, a deal was agreed.

“The purchasers, Warner Hotels Limited, whose directors have family links to the area, were aware of the premises and as experienced operators in the leisure sector recognised the potential in the business.

“The hotel sector enjoyed considerable signs of resurgence in 2014 with an improvement in buyer appetite for quality assets and this has continued into 2015, as witnessed by the interest and competitive bidding in the sale of Maes Manor.

“We congratulate Warner Hotels on their excellent acquisition and look forward to watching their success in developing the business.”
