Ynysddu Primary School has been awarded Platinum Eco School status for its environmental work.

The school has received four green flags in nine years after increasing the amount of waste recycled and introducing a school allotment, growing tomatoes, lettuce, radish and potatoes.

Pupils have also planted trees, fruit plants and pollinators to support local wildlife and ecosystems.

Cllr Ken James, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Planning and Sustainable Development said: “The environmental achievements of Ynysddu Primary School pupils and staff are fantastic.

“Pupils are taking the lead on issues that they feel are important and delivering impressive results for their school and local community.

“I would like to congratulate all the pupils, staff and the entire school community on nine years of hard work and their well-deserved Platinum Eco Award.”
