A 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital after he was shot in the face with a BB gun.
Gwent Police said the incident happened on May 1 in the Commercial Road area of Abercarn.
The victim, a 16-year-old boy, received hospital treatment and was released shortly after.
A 24-year-old man from the Risca area has been arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm, common assault and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear and violence.
He was remanded in custody and will now to appear at Newport Crown Court on May 21.
