A GP based in Gelligaer has been honoured by the medical profession for her work training the doctors of the future.
Professor Helen Houston was given the outstanding achievement award at the Clinical Teacher of the Year Awards, held in Cardiff on Tuesday April 21.
The awards are organised by doctors’ union the British Medical Association and the British Medical Journal in conjunction with the Wales Deanery and the universities of Cardiff and Swansea.
Prof Houston, who teaches at Cardiff University and is a board member of the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, said Gelligaer was a great community and one that was very close to her heart.
She said: “I’d like to thank my colleagues for the huge contribution they make. It is great to work with them.”
