The outgoing Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough Council raised almost £9,000 for charity in his year in office.
His fundraising bought in a staggering £8,773, with money still rolling in from his campaigns in 2014 and 2015.
Cllr David Carter, who represents the Bargoed ward, selected the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and Home-Start Caerphilly Borough to support during his time as Mayor.
The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal supports the Legion’s welfare work for the Armed Forces community, and in recent years has raised over £30 million a year to support this important cause.
Home-Start Caerphilly Borough is a voluntary organisation supporting parents of children under the age of five, enabling them to give their children the best possible start in life.
Cllr David Carter, said:“I have been truly overwhelmed by people’s generosity.
“I have had an action packed year of fundraising and I am thrilled that we have managed to raise so much money for two very worthy causes.”
