Sainsbury’s Pontllanfraith has donated £500 to Rhymney Valley Athletic Club.
The money was donated from the profits of the 5p plastic bag levy to hold two new training sessions on a Monday and Tuesday evenings for the athletes who want to train as part of their competitive squad.
A number of charities, community groups and schools applied for the grant, with Rhymney Valley Athletic Club, based in Blackwood, deemed the most worthy.
Sainsbury’s Pontllanfraith also donated £200 to the club last year.
